Butt Kicked

In simple terms, today I got my butt kicked ....

Everything was going to plan until somewhere around the 26 K (15 mile) mark. At this point, I started to slow up and felt the leg speed fade. For over an hour I pushed on knowing I had failed. There was a stitch around the ribs, cramping in my hamstring and so much salt on my face that I was glad there wasn't any Texans with tequila around. It was emotionally hard and at the end I was drained, sad and disappointed. After I found out how everyone else had done, I slipped away and sat in the sun waiting for Katy to return from cheering duties.

That's about it for now .... more later

P.S. Yesterday I entered the Melbourne Marathon in October .... driving home my sadness moved to a renewed determination to have a go at this one. I wasn't sure what my next goal would be ...... but now I do!

I'm so sorry you had a rough day. Hopefully this will only make you run stronger at your next event!

What doesn't kill us makes us stronger!

You went in to this one at less than 100% and tried to pretend it didn't matter. Sometimes reality trumps fantasy.

Hey Toasty

If it was easy anybody could do it.
Part of the reason it feels so good to PB is cause it's so bloody hard.

Just get back on that horse, having that new goal is just what you need.

I'm sure you did your best with the situation yesterday still I know the feeling you must of had, it's not too pleasant.

Use this!

You still impress the bejeesus outta me Marko. To run the way you do....you rock. Its a marathon. If it was easy, everyone would do it. Only the tough do it and only the REALLY tough offer to pace. Nah mate, despite how you feel about the outcome, you put your hand up and had a go. YOU.ROCK. End of story.

No,it was your strategy to confuse the coward enemy. They think you are wounded and you defeat all of them. Do you remember the Orazi and Curiazi duel? The last survived warrior pretended to be wounded and killed all the Curiazi brothers....and Rome became more powerful again!

I know where you stuffed up. The toast wasn't buttered.

Saw Ray James finish (2.59). It got a bit boring after that, so I went for the Runner's Breakfast special of baked beans, egg and bacon on toast at Australia Fair.

Sounds to me like maybe a Texan with tequila would have been JUST THE TICKET.

It's five o'clock SOMEWHERE, eh?

I agree with this:
YOU. ROCK.
