Are you ready?

Relax!

The title is not about something you have to brace yourself for. The question is about the doubt in my mind regarding my ability to complete the next marathon and what time I might run. Do you ever feel that way?

Since Melbourne Marathon a lot of my efforts have been about recovery. I guess I am close to recovered, but now I'm tapering, so will never know if I could manage a full weeks training. Add to that the full on work schedule prior to Christmas. The flight out on Tuesday next week, can't come quick enough.

Email Gift

I came home from work around 8 p.m. and realized it was getting too late to go for a run. This was a response to a recent job application I wrote :

Dear [First Name],

This letter is to advise that, whilst your skills and experiences may meet some of the client’s requirements in regard to the recently advertised ... blah blah blah ....

We pride ourselves on our professionalism and our high care, high commitment approach to the recruitment process, and trust the contact you have had with us reflects this.

Again, thank you for your interest, ... blah blah bah.

AND they sent it to 31 other Email addresses!!!!

So what could I do but REPLY ALL ...

Dear [others @ insert name here],

Sorry to hear you also were unsuccessful with your application. Best of Luck with your future endeavours.

Regards,
[insert first name]

There was also a full apology from the Managing Director in a following Email. This made my day!

I'm Sorry

I'm Sorry! ....... My last pictures didn't seem to be appreciated and I felt I should make up for it with a nice fluffy bunny picture.

Today's long run was 32K or 20mi. Getting ready for Hawaii. However, this concerns me ......

New Training

"The structure and function of the neural control system allows for sensory input and control of the major organs, and sensory input and excitation of the muscular that in turn causes muscular contraction and locomotion."

Obviously anything with locomotion has to help with training!

My training lately has involve trigger point, rotating the angle of my foot with static calf stretch, extension through the leg on hamstrings and now neural flow improvements. Add to this magnesium and calcium supplements as well as occasional running with a 70% workload supported by addtional rest periods.

1. As I get older and run more, I need to work on my flexibility and muscle recovery.

2. This will make me more flexible.

3. It's amazing what a little help can achieve in this area.

Triple Treat

This is a triple posting: Amazing Facts About Katy #57, Answering the Call & Recipe of the Week

Fact #57. Katy (aka Toast Hater) Finished her last day in a Government department yesterday. I was looking at these photos and met some of her co-workers over drinks.

It struck me how much she has the ability to make a place fun and bring out the silly side in others.

No wonder they are going to miss her.

Answering the Call

This week I put out the following Email:
"I'll be heading out from the Ship Inn for a River loop at 5:30am Saturday. Tara and Ciaran are planning to start with me and peel off into the hills to play behind the bushes and do whatever (these are details I don't really want to get into). Robbie was meeting Glenno at the Regatta but will start from the Ship Inn if Glenno changes starting places. Tesso and Clairie are doing track work but are keen to meet for breakfast. Phil should be seen trotting over the Goodwill to join me around 5:25am.

Nomiations are being called for Breakfast Venue. So far Regatta "Hope It Is The Good Cook Today" is slightly ahead of Shae La La Where's My Banana in the poll. I am quite confident your nominations will stand a very good chance of a new place to eat and drink coffee. All you have to do is start one of those never ending chain Emails or post on a Buddy Message board and hope everyone can find it.

Over to YOU ............................"

pictures were at the new venue, Poppy's.

Recipe of the Week

Ice Bath - Serves 1

Ingredients:

1 large bag of party ice
1 bathtub
1 large quantity of cold water.

Instructions:

1. Insert plug in bathtub.
2. Pound Party Ice into small pieces and sprinkle contents in the bottom of the tub.
3. Turn on cold water tap only and fill with enough water to submerge legs and bits.
4. Slowly enter into tub and straighten legs. Wait until gender annulment is complete (shrinkage) and everything goes numb, when this happens you know you are done.
5. Option: Can be served with a can of V that will chill nicely at your feet during Step 4.

Enjoy!

Found

We lost a cat ... well, we didn't lose it, it just decided to hide for awhile .... there is probably a long blog by Katy ..... in short, cat found ... and much more than this, Katy happy .... soooooo life goes on. Sometimes you just have to put your head down and trudge through life's stuff, knowing that eventually it is going to get better. And then it does.

With renewed optimism, I think, perhaps, my injuries might finally be improving .... I was doing all the painful stuff I've be taught over the last few weeks and now I hope ..... I pray ... I might just be on to something. It could have been the bourbon, but I imagined I was melting chocolate as I stretched and I thought my muscles released at long last. I'm sure CJ has something to do with it.

I am looking forward to the first of my last 3 long runs before Hawaii. I'm even excited that some of my running buddies might join me. Only a few sleeps until Saturday's run. Wheeeee ... It's like Christmas or me!
